Abstract:
MEDRAD was not an ordinary winner of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, it was determined and worked for it in all their life and at all levels of their operations. This two-times winner of the Baldrige Award has today become one of only five companies to receive the award twice. The two subsequent winnings of the Baldrige Award was an accomplishment which represents years of value gained through the use of Baldrige criteria, steps which the company began to incorporate into its business in the 1990s. For MEDRAD, these criteria are key inputs for "Performance Excellence," which any success eying organization must relentlessly pursue for continuous improvement to exceed the expectations of customers, shareholders and employees. The 32 areas which the Baldrige criteria list and its 89 individual questions a company must address in its application have been put in play diligently by MEDRAD. The leadership criterion of MBNQA for Excellence is a common theme that specifically underlies these criteria and was greatly utilized by MEDRAD. MEDRAD, Inc. is a worldwide leading provider of medical devices and services that enable and enhance imaging procedures of the human body. MEDRAD grounds its purpose in a three-prong philosophy: improving the quality of health care, ensuring continued growth and profit, and to provide enjoyable and rewarding place to work. This case-study aims to present observation potential that characterized MEDRAD’s success and multiple winning of the Baldrige Award.
