BKU was established in 1957 with many majors, including Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE). The Industrial Systems Engineering Department (ISED) was established in 1999 to manage the ISE major.

Historical milestones in the formation and development of the ISED:

- 1998: The project to open the ISE major was established with PMU including Ho Thanh Phong (head of the PMU), Truong Chi Hien, Nguyen Nhu Phong.

- 18/10/1999: ISED was established with initial staff including Ho Thanh Phong (head of the ISED), Nguyen Nhu Phong, Nguyen Van Chung.

- 1999: started training the first batch K1997.

- 2000: recruited Nguyen Tuan Anh, Do Ngoc Anh Dung, Le Ngoc Quynh Lam, Nguyen Nhu Mai, Le Tam Phuoc, Phan Thi Mai Ha, Nguyen Vu Duc, Huynh Thi Thu Thuy, Bui Thi Kim Dung.

- 2001: recruited Le Tan Phuoc, Tran Ngoc Thai Kha.

- 2002: recruited Nguyen Van Phuc Nguyen, Do Thanh Luu.

- 2003: recruited Do Ngoc Hien, Nguyen Tri Dung.

- 2005: recruited Tran Trung Hieu

- From 2008: recruited Nguyen Thi Phuong Quyen, Ho Thi Kim Dung, Nguyen Huu Phuc, ...
